I Don't Yet Know the Swedish Word for Wolves...

But I would LOVE to visit this wolf sanctuary. Peter's sister is a veterinarian and has access, which is how Peter and his kids were able to have this amazing experience. Peter's son Erik who is 16, and daughter Veronica who is 23
Peter and the wolf
Erik and Veronica and an especially puppy-like wolf.

Bra, Tack!

There are a lot of Swedish words that are spelled exactly like English words but mean something entirely different Below are a few examples. I'll be posting more later, including an amusing "R" rated list.

Bra = Good
Tack = Thanks
Barn = Children
Fat = Dish

Going Away Luncheon

A close up of the festively-decorated table shortly before everyone arrived. Whenever I mention to Peter that I like the way something looked he asks "Was it purple?" In this case it was indeed. I loved all the Swedish flags too.

The lovely ladies of Semiahmoo including my mom, front left.
It was a beautiful luncheon. Great friends, great food, and great gifts! Every single gift - a spa day, travel bags, sleep mask, gloves and scarf, travel necessities, etc. was incredibly perfect. There were other thoughtful touches too- a keepsake "Ode to Wendy" and some great info on Laholm.

The Inn at Semiahmoo, where the luncheon was held. I have some other pictures of Semiahmoo I'll be posting soon. It's really a beautiful area. Wonderful people too, 11 of whom attended the luncheon.

Another View of Laholm

Laholm is a town of about 10,000. The western-most part of the town is Melbystraand, a beautiful resort area on the North Sea. The area is also the golfing capital of Sweden. Peter lives about six miles from the center of town.

Not the North Pole

Peter was born just above the arctic circle and lived there the first two months of his life. Where he lives now though is not so exotic. Laholm / Halmstad are in the southwest part of the country (in other words, the lower left part of Sweden). Sweden is roughly the size of California, and Halmstad is about where Los Angeles, or perhaps Orange County would be. It's about 110 miles from Copenhagen and about the same distance from Goteborg, Sweden's second largest city.

Peter's World (and Soon Mine)

Halmstad, the city where Peter works. It's about a half hour drive from Laholm.
Laholm Yes, this was on purpose.
This is part of an annual spring party.

Counting the Days

Leaving for Laholm October 13th.
