Thai Dinner

Last night Peter and I went to the home of his friend Hakan and his girlfriend for a Thai dinner. It was a really fun evening, with great communication and lots of laughs despite (and at times because of)three different languages being involved. I learned that the way to compliment a Thai dish is to say a word that sounds like "Alloy". I said that word most sincerely a number of times. It was among the best food I have ever had. The first few dishes that were brought out were described as "Swedish Thai" - in other words scaled down in heat for wimpier palates. When they brought a 'real' Thai dish to the table I could tell how hot it was just by looking at all the red chili flakes on it. Peter and I were more than up to the task. A few bites into it my face matched my red sweater, my nose was running, my sinuses were cleared and my eye makeup was somewhere around my chin. It was great.
